Reviews about Butler Sales & Service
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆May 04, 2020, by Mike ThurstonIt would be "WELL ADVISED" to look elsewhere! After my Convection Blower stopped working on my US Stove 5660, I decided to go to my nearest stove company to replace the failed part. Upon visiting Butler's Sales & Service, the genius behind the counter looked at my failed blower and said that it was a bad bearing but that you have to purchase the entire assembled blower and fan. Okay, that's fine because I need to have heat in my house even though the part would cost me upwards close to $250. So the salesman said that he had one in stock. Great! However, upon closer inspection of the part the salesman had in his hand, I noticed that the motor was not same. In fact, it was a much smaller motor and that the housing itself was completely reversed compared to the original unit I brought in. As it was, the 'NEW' blower unit would not fit inside by its design. The salesman insisted that all I would have to do is flip it over and that I would have to drill into it to mount it that way. Um, okay. I thought to myself. Further studying the 'NEW' blower, the serial number and amp rating was different as well. Almost a half Amp smaller than the original. I informed the salesman that the rating stated on the 'NEW' blower was different from the original but again, he insisted that that number did not matter and that it WILL work because he has years of experience in this sort of thing. Okay, whatever. Finally, after cashing out $245 later, I asked the salesman that if it didn't work, can I return it. He snapped right back and said, "No, once you walk out that door you can't because that's an electronic part. No returns." I went home and immediately installed the 'NEW' fan blower. Yup, the blower would not fit into the original position as stated nor could I close the side door because it stuck too far out. So I improvised and reused the old housing with the new motor and fan. Okay, this may work. WRONG! Indeed, the unit did in fact turn on but I was getting no air blowing out. I pulled out the unit and looked at the fan blades. Surprise! The blades were completely the opposite direction and was actually pulling air in rather than blowing air out. The fan was even smaller than the original as well. Okay, I'll just swap the blades with the original. Done, I re-installed the unit and started it back up. Finally! All done... WRONG! The 'NEW blower had only one speed, LOW. I would not speed up and I was stuck with only 1 speed and I could barely feel the heat blow out. Now I was afraid of overheating the stove because of an under performing motor. In the end, I decided to rip apart the 'NEW' unit and swap the new bearings out with the failed bearing on the original blower. 2 hours later, I finished. Re-installed the OLD blower motor, fan and housing with the new $2 bearing from a $250 unit and DONE! Works like it did when I first bought the stove. I would highly advise anyone from seeking parts or knowledge from this company as they have no idea what they're talking about. Either go Online or seek another company for service.
